Littergarden
Re-Nest has a how-to on creating your own litter box garden. TheĀ idea is that the litter box will be filled with potting soil and your bunny’s litter will compost. The compost will be used to feed herbs planted in the soil.
It sounds like a promising idea, but I can see some potential problems for it. Our two bunnies would fill up the litter box well before any of the waste begins to compost. We’d end up scooping out most of the poop and some of the dirt before it starts working. Plus, our hungry little bunnies would eat those herbs down to nothing the first chance they got.
But that’s just our buns. It’s a nice looking project, if not practical for our bunnies.

So cute! I love the stone steps. But I agree, maybe not practical for multiple or full-sized buns.

Truly lovely in theory : ) Yet, I could see my 2 digging in the dirt and, for sure, nomming the herbs down.
It’s interesting to read all of the responses to the article. It’s great to see public awareness being raised re: proper care for bunnies as house pets!

Wow, yeh looks great but my lot would have it dug out in no time at all they would see it as Megga Play Zone, my house would be littered with bits of plant and compost, I shall stick with the compostable cat litter and leave the plants in the garden centre. BUT IT DOES LOOK GOOD.
