Dave Bedford, an employee at a recycling bank in Bournemouth, England, was shocked after he unlocked and opened a bin meant for household electrical items.

Two grey lop-eared rabbits were staring back at him from the bottom of the bin. Bedford called his wife who rushed the flea-covered, bony rabbits to a nearby veterinary office for medical treatment.

The bunnies are now recovering and being cared for by veterinary assistant Fiona Prentiss.

Ollie Parris visited Beech Tree Bunnies, a rescue in Leicester, and came home with two guinea pigs. He also came home with an idea; Ollie wanted to help the rescue. So Ollie took to the streets on his bike for a sponsored ride.

Ollie rode for two miles while his father jogged behind. He raised 217 pounds for the rescue.

His parents are very proud of what he has achieved.

Beech Tree Bunnies was formed six years ago and relies on donations to care for its current group of 30 bunnies and 10 guinea pigs. Visit the rescue at their website, www.beechtreebunnies.co.uk.

For the “Super Contemporary” show which opened at the Design Museum in London today, fashion designer Paul Smith and 14 other artists were commissioned to “give something back” to London.

Smith focused his project on his distaste for litter. His creation is a 5-foot green rabbit holding a trash bag. When you throw garbage in the bin, the rabbit’s ears light up. Prototypes of his “New London Rubbish Bin” have been placed in Covent Gardens and Holland Park on a 4-month trial period.

I love the idea, and I hope these garbage bins end up all over the place.

The two bunnies, Bubbles and Lilac, are a favorite to win the competition. To prep the rabbits for the contest, Mathew and Thomas set up obstacles in their backyard and initially used leashes to guide the rabbits over the fences.
